YouTube not showing video recommendations when logged out

YouTube is reportedly showing a blank page for users who haven’t logged in to their Google accounts. Until now, the YouTube home page was often filled with video recommendations based on the user’s local history.
If a user logs out from the main browser, uses a browser where he/she has not logged in to YouTube or use Incognito mode, the website will show a message saying “Try searching to get started. Start watching videos to help us build a feed of videos you’ll love”.
The report also claims that YouTube did not show any recommendations on different computers and some users who were logged in and cleared their search and watch history were also getting the same message.
It is still unclear if and when YouTube made the change. In August last year, the company rolled out the change to some but quickly reversed its decision after user backlash.
While the change may not be welcomed by YouTube users who don’t want Google to see what they are watching, it may be a blessing in disguise for those who did not find the random recommendations useful.
Moreover, this may allow users to build their video recommendations locally from scratch.
