Xiaomi India unveils Redmi 9A Smartphone
Mi India announced the latest Redmi 9A as a part of their bestselling Redmi A series of smartphones. Redmi 9A carries forward the legacy established by all the Redmi A series smartphones of being one of the most accessible smartphones, enabling millions of Indians to experience the latest tech without breaking the bank.
Sneha Tainwala , Redmi Business Lead, Mi India, said, “Redmi’s A series of smartphones have always aimed to bring quality smartphone experience to first time smartphone buyers. Redmi 9A aims to uphold the legacy set by its predecessors and does so by bringing a high-quality media experience with the HD+ LCD IPS display with a dot-notch. This is a major upgrade over competition devices in the price segment. While most of the competition devices in this price segment come with either TFT screen or 18:9 aspect ratio, we are bringing the latest and best 20:9 LCD display with dot-notch.
She added, “The 5000mAh enhanced two days battery has been developed to ensure years of usage with reduced depreciation in the battery health. Redmi 9A also comes with ELB (Enhanced Lifespan Battery) technology that ensures that the battery will last for 2.5-3 years. Redmi 9A features the MediaTek Helio G25 chipset along with optimised software allowing for a seamless smartphone experience.”

Display
Redmi 9A features a 16.5cm(6.53) HD+ IPS LCD display with a 20:9 aspect ratio as compared to TFT screen panels with 18:9 aspect ratio which are present on smartphones in this segment. It also comes with TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification allowing better visibility in reading mode.
Performance
Redmi 9A sports the octa-core MediaTek Helio G25 chipset clocked at 2.0 GHz which handles day-to-day tasks and multi-tasking with ease. It is available in two variants, 2GB+32GB and 3GB+32GB with a 2+1 dual SIM slot and dedicated microSD card slot allowing expansion up to 512GB.
Battery:
Redmi 9A is powered by a 5000mAh Enhanced two-day battery providing a longer lifespan as compared to a regular battery. Redmi 9A comes with ELB (Enhanced Battery Lifespan) that will ensure that the battery will last for 2.5-3 years as compared to regular batteries which are rated to last a maximum of 2 years.
Camera
Redmi 9A comes with a 13MP AI camera on the rear with features such as AI Portrait mode, AI scene detection. Camera software has been optimised to bring features like document scanner and kaleidoscope. It comes with a 5MP AI selfie camera with AI portrait mode, and helps with AI face unlock.
Redmi Earphones
As a part of its Phone Plus strategy, Redmi has also launched the in-ear Redmi Earphones. Certified by Hi-Res Audio, they aim to provide a more natural and realistic listening experience. The 10mm sound drivers bring dynamic bass, clear vocals and refined treble. Redmi Earphones also feature an in-line mic to facilitate handsfree calling. The multi-function button enables call and music control from the earphones. Redmi Earphones are crafted from high quality precision aluminium alloy and come with silicone earplugs. They are based on the 3.5mm standard and feature a 1.25m long cable.
Availability
Redmi 9A will be available in three colour variants, Nature Green, Sea Blue, Midnight Black in 2GB + 32GB and 3GB + 32GB storage variants for INR 6799 and INR 7499 respectively across mi.com, Amazon India, Mi Homes and Mi Studios starting 4th September 2020.
Redmi Earphones will be available in Black, Blue and Red starting for INR XX across mi.com, Amazon India, Flipkart, Mi homes and Mi Studios for INR 399 starting 7th September 2020.
