X removes the ability to hide blue ticks
Elon Musk’s popular social media platform, X has announced its decision to discontinue blue ticks of its users, regardless of whether they have a premium account or not. To get this blue tick, eligible users had to apply on Twitter and go through a verification process.
After Musk took over X, he made blue tick a part of the perks that users subscribing to Twitter Blue could only enjoy and had to pay a monthly fee for that.
In a new development, several premium users on X have started receiving new notifications that warn them about how they will not be able to hide the blue tick anymore. This marks a significant shift in the platform’s approach to user verification and subscription offerings.
This new update comes after some X users started getting X Premium subscriptions, even without subscribing to it.
Musk, recently via a post on X, wrote that people with more than 2,500 verified subscribers will get access to all Premium features on X for free.
Musk also stated that users who have more than 5,000 verified subscribers, will get that access to X Premium+. This move sparked a backlash from some X users, particularly those who had paid for the monthly subscription of X.
