Windows Server with Hyper-V grabs 47.5% Market Share in India
Windows Server with Hyper-V has become the leading x86 and EPIC-based hypervisor in India, garnering 47.5-per cent market share (ahead of its nearest competitor by 3.1 points) in Q1 2014, according to the IDC study “Worldwide Server Virtualization Tracker Q1 2014”, which measures newly virtualized server hosts every quarter. Hyper-V is a part of Windows Server 2012 R2 and offers world-class features, scalability and flexibility to customers for virtualizing their existing on-premises infrastructure. Coupled with System Center and Microsoft Azure, Hyper-V also enables enterprises to quickly deploy and manage hybrid cloud services.
“The popularity of Hyper-V also reflects customer confidence in Microsoft’s suite of cloud offerings. Virtualization with Hyper-V is the stepping stone for enterprises in transitioning their legacy IT infrastructure to cloud. It helps them keep pace with the rapidly evolving platform demands of modern business,” said Tyler Bryson, General Manager, Marketing and Operations, Microsoft India.
Identified as a leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for x86 server virtualization this year, Hyper-V was further enhanced with Windows Server 2012 R2. These include features to improve flexibility through enhancements to Live Migration and, enhanced virtual networking, storage and administration.
