WhatsApp users will be able to hide their locked chats
WhatsApp is working on a feature that would allow users to conceal their locked chats. Presently, the entry point to access the list of locked chats is always visible in the chat list where there is at least one protected conversation, potentially allowing anyone with access to the phone to understand the presence of locked conversations.
The hidden chats feature is currently in beta and may not be visible to everyone yet, but could reach the stable channel soon. By entering the secret code into the search field, users can make the list of closed chats visible and delete the entry point after activating this feature.
Once this feature is implemented, users will have the option to hide their locked chats from the main chat list, making them accessible only through a separate "Locked chats" section. This will provide an additional layer of privacy for sensitive conversations and prevent others from accidentally accessing them.
To hide a locked chat, users will need to long-press on the chat and select the "Hide" option from the menu. The chat will then be moved to the "Locked chats" section, which can be accessed by swiping down on the main chat list.
To unhide a locked chat, users will need to go to the "Locked chats" section, long-press on the chat they want to unhide, and select the "Unhide" option. The chat will then be moved back to the main chat list.
This new feature is expected to be welcomed by users who want to keep their private conversations even more secure. It is another step in WhatsApp's ongoing efforts to enhance user privacy and security.
