WhatsApp to allow voice notes in "View Once" mode for privacy
Voice notes are apparently being added to WhatsApp's View Once feature that will let users send voice notes in View Once mode just like pictures. The feature is reportedly being made available to a small number of beta testers on the WhatsApp beta for iOS and Android. This feature will improve privacy in discussions by enabling users to transmit voice notes that can only be accessed once.
The iOS and Android beta versions of the Meta-owned messaging app are getting a new feature allowing users to send voice notes with a limit to access only once. As per the report, the feature is being rolled to out some beta testers on the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.21.15/ 2.23.22.4 and WhatsApp beta for iOS version 23.21.1.73. Once enabled, users will be able to enjoy better privacy in their conversations using voice notes.
The new feature showcases a new view once icon available in the chat bar when users record voice notes. Tapping the icon will send the voice note with the limitation of being played only once.
In View Once mode recipients would not be able to forward or save the View Once voice notes, restricting anyone from listening to it later. However, the sender will also not be able to listen to the note sent in this mode.
