WhatsApp introduces QR ticket booking for DTC bus commuters on its platform
WhatsApp has announced QR ticketing service for Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) commuters across the Delhi-NCR region on its platform. According to the Meta-owned messaging platform, this ticketing system is aimed to simplify the transit experience for commuters, enabling them to book and purchase tickets from anywhere, all with the help of the WhatsApp chatbot. DTC is the first state bus network that has implemented this solution.
The WhatsApp ticket booking facility allows people to book tickets conveniently from various locations such as homes, offices, malls, etc. This thus marks the end of times when they had to wait after boarding the bus to get a ticket from conductor
Currently, the chatbot allows commuters travelling on DTC and DIMTS routes to book single journey QR tickets. For riders commuting frequently on the same route, the chatbot will offer a quick purchase feature, further reducing the time spent selecting the destination and starting point in the chatbot.
Commuters need to send ‘Hi’ to +918744073223 to access the service. For the convenience of commuters, the facility is available in both English and Hindi to book single journey QR tickets.
Last year, WhatsApp partnered with Delhi Metro to expand the WhatsApp-based ticketing experience across all Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram Rapid metro routes.
