VMWorld 2017 August 27-31, Mandalay Bay Hotel & Convention Center, Las Vegas
We all know that technology is just one wheel of the cart. People and processes have an equal role to play. It is important to break the shackles of the primitive processes and people mindset to operate the new architectures you have built to obtain the agility and ROI for which you adopted cloud in the first place. VMworld 2017 Las Vegas has witnessed over 500 sessions across all categories, it may be overwhelming to understand which ones can help your organization with an intelligent operations solution – across physical, virtual and cloud environments.
Pat Gelsinger, CEO, VMware, leader in Virtualization speaks on his keynote presentation, new mission to be a MULTI-CLOUD LYNCHPUN, speaking on the roadmap and strategy for the future and stressing partnership with Amazon Web Services(AWS), on how the virtualization leader will establish itself as a leading purveyor of broad hybrid cloud capabilities through an expanding portfolio of management tools, security features and strategic partnerships.
During the keynote, Gelsinger speaks on other public cloud providers were mentioned, but it's obvious that AWS is going to be the cloud of choice for VMware. VMware announced that VMware Cloud on AWS was available in one region immediately, and will be available in all AWS regions by 2018.
VMware is about to change the security equation with a new offering that protects applications at the virtualization layer and showcased products and partnerships intended to cement his company's hold on the corporate data center while expanding its position into the public cloud. The strategy to "bring all the pieces together" would be executed across several fronts, Gelsinger said.
In the first day of the General session Pat Gelsinger and Sanjay Poonen spoke on the key pillars responsible for reshaping industries – cloud, mobility, networking and security -- and hear from customers who are succeeding in their own transformation journeys. In the second day Pat Gelsinger has done fire side chat session with Michael Dell, Chairman and CEO of Dell Technologies on the questions raised in the first day of the VMWorldhttps://www.vmworld.com/en/us/video/general-sessions.html and other top thought leaders also assess the future of digital business.
The summit also focus on the making of private clouds even easier to use. The next step is to entering into deep partnerships with major cloud providers, includes AWS and IBM, and expanding the VMware Cloud Partner Network. Secondly, AppDefense was also stressed during the keynote, which monitors the datacenter systems that will be able to analyze and, if needed, act to mitigate security risks. AppDefense will be available by the end of the year.
In an era in which software is consuming the world, applications are what drive your business. Applications are the ultimate reason for the infrastructure to exist. Gelsinger also speaks about NSX virtualized network and security platform is now VMware’s top priority. VMware continues to improve the NSX platform by making network functions consumable at the software layer. Emerging 5G and software-defined wide area networks will help stretch compute power out to Internet of Things edge devices, he added.
Today, enterprises are increasingly moving towards multi-cloud future, VMware along with AWS will address the tech trend which is moving towards hybrid solution. Since, Hybrid is the new norm and companies are eager to leverage VMware technologies both on premises and in the cloud. You can take advantage of hybrid cloud by extending or migrating workloads using secure and seamless networking capabilities offered by VMware.
The goal is to give customers access to their apps from any device and modality, through the usage model of their choice.
