VMware brings EVO:RAIL in India
To enable businesses to build and deploy a Software-Defined Data Center, VMware has announced the availability of VMware EVO:RAIL for the Indian market through its Qualified EVO:RAIL Partners. It is a hyper-converged infrastructure appliance that helps IT organizations streamline the deployment and scale-out of software-defined IT infrastructure at the speed of business.
Dell, EMC and HP have also announced the availability of their VMware EVO:RAIL-based offerings for India. Fujitsu, Hitachi Data Systems and NetApp have also partnered with VMware for EVO:RAIL and will make their respective appliances available over time. The solution will be offered by these partners’ channel as a single SKU covering hardware, software, and support and services costs, with single point-of-contact support being offered by the Qualified EVO:RAIL Partners.
VMware EVO:RAIL will dramatically simplify the delivery of software-defined infrastructure services while lowering operating expenses. Featuring a pre-integrated and pre-tested 100- per cent VMware software stack, VMware EVO:RAIL will enable IT to produce virtual machines within minutes of powering on the appliance, thereby responding faster to business demands, simplifying infrastructure administration and reducing operating costs.

VMware EVO:RAIL is aimed at use cases in the mid-market and enterprise segments, and includes VMware vSphere, VMware Virtual SAN, VMware vRealize Log Insight, and the new EVO:RAIL engine – all integrated with hardware from customers’ preferred Qualified EVO:RAIL Partner. VMware EVO:RAIL will simplify appliance deployment, configuration as well as ongoing management, patching and upgrading of the software. The appliance is ideally suited for use cases such as virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) as well as remote office/branch office for industries including financial services, government, healthcare, higher education, insurance, oil & gas, and retail. Based on VMware vSphere, the appliance can coexist with customers' existing VMware vSphere environments as well as serve as an on-ramp to VMware vCloud Air.
