Vishak Raman exits FireEye India
Vishak Raman will quit FireEye. He has put in his papers at the cybersecurity company.
Raman joined FireEye as senior regional director for India and SAARC in August last year. The official statement from FireEye has confirmed his exit will take place within the next few weeks.
"Vishak made considerable contributions to FireEye in India and we wish him well," said Eric Hoh, President, Asia-Pacific Japan, FireEye.
Hoh added in his statement, “India remains a key market for FireEye, thanks in part to growing awareness of business risks posed by cyber threats and a growing realization among business leaders here that legacy defenses like firewalls and antivirus are no longer effective.”
An industry veteran, prior to joining FireEye, Raman has worked for major security companies like WatchGuard and Fortinet. His career’s longest stint was with Fortinet for over a decade since 2003. He was senior regional director for India and SAARC when he quit in 2014 to join Tata Communications. He returned to the mainstream security world when he joined FireEye in August 2016.
The role at FireEye is the shortest stint of Raman’s career till date. The reason behind this sudden exit within just nine months of getting appointed to a senior executive role at FireEye is unknown. Raman's exit might not have any impact on FireEye’s operations in the country as Hoh commented, “FireEye will continue to invest in partnerships and grow their customer base in India.”
