Video of ACP slapping and pulling the hair of youth for eve-teasing goes viral

The anti-Romeo squad in Uttar Pradesh is back again after Chief Minister Yogi Adiyanath stormed to power for the second time.

In a fresh incident, a youth was slapped five times by a UP Police ACP for allegedly eve-teasing in Kanpur district.

ACP Colonelganj Tirpurari Pandey was passing through the area when he spotted the accused harassing a girl student. The cops caught the accused and handed him over to the ACP.

Once in the police net, the ACP started raining slaps on the face of the accused. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

According to a senior police officer, this would act as a deterrent for those indulging in such crimes.

The incident took place near Merchant Chambers at the Civil Lines in Gwaltoli where a youth allegedly followed a girl and harassed her. According to Additional DCP (West) Brajesh Srivastava, ACP (Colonelganj) Tirpurari Pandey stopped the youth and slapped him repeatedly amidst the public.

Tirpurari Pandey also warned the youth of dire consequences if he continued to indulge in such crimes. The ACP admitted that he slapped the youth on Saturday for allegedly harassing a girl on the road, according to a report in PTI.

Between 2017 and 2020, the anti-Romeo squads in the state arrested 14,454 people, the UP Police had said in an RTI response filed by India Today.
