Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar Inaugurates STPI Centres and Semicon India FutureDesign Roadshow
Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar inaugurated two Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) centres in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, marking a significant milestone in Kerala's tech ecosystem. Additionally, he facilitated an MoU between IBM and C-DAC to accelerate India’s Processor Design and manufacturing capabilities for High-Performance Computing.
During the Semicon India FutureDesign Roadshow held at the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), the Minister highlighted the importance of semiconductor technology and its role in India's digital transformation. He emphasized the need for Kerala's participation in India's semiconductor journey under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi.
The Minister's visit also witnessed the announcement of a regional centre for the upcoming Bharat Semiconductor Research Centre (BSRC) at IIST, Thiruvananthapuram, aiming to boost the city’s startup and tech ecosystem.
Addressing stakeholders from various sectors including students, researchers, and industry leaders, Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar emphasized the significance of Kerala's contribution to India's digital economy. He urged the state to seize the opportunity to become a technology hub and emphasized the importance of political vision in driving innovation and development.
The event also witnessed discussions on FutureDESIGN, a program aimed at empowering startups and fostering an Indian innovation ecosystem in the semiconductor sector. The Minister outlined the government's efforts to create a vibrant ecosystem for semiconductor design and manufacturing, emphasizing the role of startups and young Indians in shaping India's technological landscape.
Industry leaders and representatives from ISRO lauded the government's initiatives in building an innovation ecosystem and expressed optimism about the future of India's semiconductor industry. They highlighted the importance of semiconductor technology in advancing various sectors and commended Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar for his leadership in driving India's semiconductor agenda forward.
The Minister's visit underscored the government's commitment to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in Kerala and across the country, with a focus on leveraging technology to drive economic growth and development.
