Twitter users need to pay ₹6800 a year to use X Pro (earlier TweetDeck)
X Pro, the service previously known as TweetDeck, has been put behind a paywall. The move has come more than a month after Twitter (now rebranded as X) announced that people will have to be verified to use TweetDeck. On Tuesday, several users logging in to use X Pro were greeted with a message that said: “Blue subscribers with a verified phone number will get a blue checkmark once approved.”
In India, the subscription costs Rs 900 per month for iOS and Android phones, while web users can get it for Rs 650 per month. There's also an option to get an annual subscription. iOS and Android users will need to pay Rs 9,400, while the web version costs Rs 6,800.
The subscription also promises features, including edit and undo tweets, fewer ads, prioritised ranking, longer posts, longer posts, and custom app icons. Most importantly, the subscription adds the coveted blue tick to the profile.
If the account is verified, then users are also eligible for an Ad-revenue sharing programme.
First launched as an independent platform, TweetDeck was then acquired by Twitter in 2011. The platform essentially allows users to create columns and follow real-time tweets from multiple accounts even without following them. Users can create multiple lists and name them accordingly. Moreover, the platform offers basic options, including like and retweet, publish or unpublish tweets, and follow and unfollow accounts.
