Trend Micro: The Mission is to Secure IT

In the global Information Technology industry, if anything is making a buzz and is treated with high esteem, it is definitely the enterprise security solutions and enterprise storage solutions, which are highly technology-based and need a lot of value addition at every level. And, both the technologies are getting integrated at a point. But, without security solutions, not only the storage but also the entire IT landscape is insecure. In addition to the partner programme enhancements taking place, Trend Micro has announced that Trend Micro Client Server Security and Client Server Messaging Security solutions 3.6 for small and medium-sized business and OfficeScan 8.0 are the first SMB security solutions from a major vendor to be awarded Microsoft Vista certification. This is another example of the commitment Trend Micro has to deliver advanced services and solutions that enable channel partners across the world to provide comprehensive security to customers with a solid partner infrastructure to support them, making it even easier to carry on their business.
 
Actually, security is not a commodity, it is a concept and Trend Micro is focussed on delivering customer’s choice for different business sizes – small, medium and enterprise–––to cover the entire spectrum of customers.
 
Trend Micro has dedicated, expert units focussed on delivering solutions appropriate for different sized businesses. For smaller, growing businesses, Trend Micro Worry-Free solutions offer low administration, ease of installation and central management while protecting against the multitude of insidious threats targeting organizations.

The purpose of Trend
Micro is to focus on the threat landscape rather than the individual product lines, providing awareness and education. Another area where Trend Micro is more focussed is on the managed services. Niraj says, “This is a very new domain and we see some significant traction over the next few quarters. The reason is the increasing sophistication of threats and growing enterprise networks that make security management a bigger challenge than ever before. While enterprises in Asia-Pacific are getting broadband access and increasingly relying on the Internet for their businesses, many do not have the expertise or dedicated resources to handle the security risks that they face.”
 
As per the market reports, the APAC Managed Security Services Market is forecasted to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19.9 per cent from 2005 to 2011. Australia and Japan are the two largest markets in the region, while China, India and countries in the Southeast Asia are markets with strong growth potential.
Looking at this trend, Trend Micro has recently announced the availability of SecureCloud, Trend Micro’s complete Software-as-a-Service Security platform offering its industry-leading threat protection solutions for small, medium and enterprise businesses. The SecureCloud security platform has three dimensions that together create a complete Software–as-a-Service solution.
 
It enables security policy for all types of users that can be managed from a single Web console. It provides protection against threats across email and the Web that includes Web reputation, anti-malware and comprehensive content security. And, finally, it delivers security across all elements of the customer’s infrastructure from gateway to desktop.
 
Besides, SecureCloud offers a range of solutions to meet the distinct needs of different customer sizes. Enterprise customers are increasingly outsourcing specific elements of their security such as email protection, freeing IT resources to focus on more productive projects. Small businesses are struggling to cope with the many different security point solutions and prefer a single simple-to-use Web console to manage these solutions. SecureCloud can meet these needs and has the ability to scale and add services as businesses grow and requirements change. 
 
Its Lab situated at Manila solidly backs up all these products and services of Trend Micro. Trend Lab, Manila is considered to be one of the most sophisticated and labs around the world. 
 
In order to make the capabilities of Trend Micro available to customers, the company engages a set of channel partners who are spread all across the country. And, on the other hand, Trend Micro is a hundred per cent channel-driven company. Niraj adds, “We continue to develop and grow programmes to meet the distinct needs of pa rtners and customers around the world.”
 
Extending the success of its channel programmes, Trend Micro aims to solidify the partnering and business development opportunities available to members and provide increased security through its channel partners globally. Currently, in India, the company works with over 150 partners to provide solutions across SMBs and enterprise segment. The target is to double this number by the end of 2007.
 
He adds, “At Trend Micro, we understand that being easy to do business with is a critical part of supporting our channel and we continuously strive to work towards winning the trust of our channel partners.””In its continued commitment to the channel community, Trend Micro has designed SecureCloud to be fully channel enabled. The recently announced Trend Micro Worry-Free Remote Manager provides resellers and partners quick access to sell SecureCloud Services and enables them to remotely manage desktop, server and messaging security for multiple customers from a single, hosted location. In the future, functionality to manage customer’s gateway and other services will be added, allowing resellers to deliver additional value and helping them build stronger relationships with their customers.
 
Niraj adds, “Our objective is to make it easy for partners to do business and hence increase profitability. We have designed various initiatives to improve operational efficiency, which is a strong incentive for resellers.”
 
For example, Worry-Free for the Channel is a global campaign centred around SIMPLIFYING how the partners engage with Trend Micro and with Trend Micro customers to achieve a successful business partnerships. The campaign is supported by three key pillars that are designed to increase and simplify access to the tools and resources that our partners need to be successful. These include a dedicated SMB Support portal to Simplify access to technical expertise and increase customer satisfaction, Worry-Free Remote Manager to simplify access to customer management tools and hence increased profitability and all New Partner Programmes to simplify access to sales and marketing resources increased productivity.
 
The company also runs quarterly incentive schemes every quarter to recognize the high achievers as well as reward loyal partners. This helps them earn rewards over and above the existing margins. For example, we are currently running a cash back scheme for new resellers who sign up as Trend Micro partners and transact during the promotional period.
