Three Cheers for the Indian Voters

S Mohini Ratna Editor VARINDIA
Indians have given the strongest mandate to the BJP lead NDA in 30 years bringing an end to the coalition politics at the centre. The emphatic and landslide victory gives Mr. Narednra Modi the chance to revitalize the economy and shape the way India engages with the world. With his proven track record of governance in the state of Gujarat of which he had been Chief Minister for uninterrupted 13 years, it is only to be hoped that as India’s 14th Prime Minister, he will put a priority on economic reforms and creating jobs which youth of India is clamouring for.
The results of 16th Lok Sabha General Elections reaffirm India's vibrant and dynamic democracy that has taken root in the country. The elevation of Mr Modi to India’s highest job which he got by his promise to revive India’s not-so-good economy, end corruption, create jobs and lift millions of people out of poverty, augurs well for the revival of Indian economy. It is hoped that the new government would do well to revive growth and investor sentiments. I would like to see that the first thing that the dispensation should do is to bring in tax-friendly laws to increase economic growth. Upgrading the country's infrastructure through investment will be of utmost help and this will help accelerate growth rates. It is also to be expected that the new government will give a fillip to the growth of many industries including the IT industry. This will create sustainable jobs whereby the companies can tap the talent available in Tier II and Tier III cities.
Here, a request can be made to Mr. Modi while choosing his cabinet. He should choose his ministers based on their technical expertise relevant to the ministry.
Security is becoming complex with the each passing day. Naturally enough, of late, there has been an increasing concern for securing IT infrastructure and challenges for cyber security. Businesses - large and small, and individuals continue to bear the brunt of cyber break-ins. Cyber villains are taking recourse to nefarious activities that include stealing intellectual property and listening to government communication and targeting governments national security related sites.
The government should ensure cyber security and prevent cyber crimes. Underscoring the importance of taking preventive measures to curb cyber attacks and fraud in the right earnest, the government should bring a cyber security policy that will plug all the loopholes. The landscape of Information security is changing very fast. This is not a cliché. The rapid growth of features, architectures, customer expectations and interdependence of software and services at a lightning speed is broadening the horizon of security considerations. Against this backdrop, the businesses need to ensure they re-evaluate their security infrastructure and strategy at periodic intervals.
In the light of given scenario, there is no denying that information security deserves full attention at the highest levels of an organization. With the passage of time, there will be an increase in the responsibility of the CIOs. We must remain on guard otherwise we will run the risk of being vulnerable to the security concerns.
With all good faith a good time will come ( Achcha din aagaya).
