Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, stated on Threads that Meta is starting a fact-checking programme. In light of the approaching US elections, the project tries to counteract bogus content. But information about collaborations and local regulations is still unknown. The timing for such a launch seems unlikely, given that India is currently holding national elections.
Adam Mosseri stated that the company had recently introduced the capability for fact-checkers to assess and label false content on Threads.
In December, Meta expressed its intention to extend the fact-checking program to Threads.
Mosseri had stated in a post at that time, "We currently match fact-check ratings from Facebook or Instagram to Threads, but our goal is for fact-checking partners to have the ability to review and rate misinformation on the app."
This indicates a future plan of enabling independent review and rating of misinformation on Threads by fact-checking partners.
