Going by the rapid advancements being made in the technology sphere, it is incumbent on CIOs to understand what lies in store in the womb of future. This is essential if they wish to maintain a competitive advantage.
It is expected of CIOs that they should in all their earnestness work hard for building a foundation for a much more agile business where flexibility should be the norm rather than the exception. This will enable faster innovation resulting from the active evaluation and experimentation with converged combinations of newer technologies like mobile, analytics, social media, Cloud and big data.
Along with the holistic growth of the IT industry, another sub-area which is witnessing stupendous growth is the IT security. Organizations are facing one of the biggest challenges. The enormity of the situation can be gauged from the fact that the number of malicious web-based attacks has increased by nearly 600 per cent YoY. Since the legitimate sites have been targeted by these attacks, the traditional approaches to security and trust are not sufficient to face the challenge.
Notwithstanding the uncertain economic times, the amount being spent on IT is all set to increase worldwide. In India, for the first time, the growth in domestic IT demand is likely to pip software exports this year. This shows that adoption of technology is high among the domestic companies.
The Government of India (GoI) is poised to spend Rs.368 billion on IT products and services in 2013, an increase of 10.5 per cent over previous year’s revenue of Rs.333 billion. This forecast includes spending by government organizations on internal IT (including personnel), hardware, software, external IT services and telecommunications.
A good amount of investment is also expected by the Indian banking, insurance and security companies for their automation. Noticeable business is also expected from the Cloud which is also attracting attention of the government. It really shows the IT industry in India is fully geared to shaping its own future.
There is no denying the fact that the digital media is becoming increasingly important for brand awareness. The digital media offers ample opportunities to hold conversations and to ruminate on the companies and products which result in increasing their brand value.
Talking about e-governance, the Indian Government is aiming to expand the UID operational infrastructure by speed tracking “financial inclusion”, allowing easy access to banking for poor and encouraging micro ATMs.
Expecting some good news, Dell also stands to benefit from the experience of Silver lake executives who have revived a number of tech firms.
Hope for the best budget bonanza...
