Telit 3G-only Module to enable 2G Migration in North America

Telit Wireless Solutions has announced introduction of 3G-only-cellular module to deliver high-speed data for US connected devices. The product which also incorporates a Python Script Language interpreter, is capable of running customer applications internally without the need for additional electronics. The new 3G-only UL865 data-only module series delivers HSPA data rates of 7.2 Mbps down and 5.76 Mbps up and will be available in a variant compliant with band and operator requirements for the North American market.
 
The new variant was designed to fulfil the role of cost-optimized mobile-data adapter addressing demand surge from the North American market as operators start setting dates to sunset 2G operations and reuse spectrum with more efficient 3G and 4G technologies. The new 3G-only variant operates on battery-friendly 1.8 Volt logic ideal for the wearable technology segment.
 
Felix Marchal, Chief Product Officer, Telit Wireless Solutions, said, The 3G-only variant of the UL865 features a VQFN packaging which is versatile and cost-effective in high-volume production situations. This new product is particularly important because together with the CL865-DUAL, a fully compatible CDMA module, it offers our American customers the opportunity to design an application once and deploy it either on CDMA or HSPA networks in that market.
 
The new product features a high-speed USB 2.0 port and a dual-band UMTS/HSPA engine delivering 3GPP Release 7 compliant data communications. It is also equipped with eight I/O ports, two A/D and one D/A converters.
