Tata Group to build a semiconductor factory in Dholera
Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said that Tata Group will build a semiconductor factory at Dholera in Gujarat. Speaking at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024, he said that the group is about to complete negotiations for the semiconductor fab, and start in 2024.
Tata group is also about to start a 20 GW gigafactory for manufacturing lithium ion batteries in Sanand in two months.
“Recently, we have made significant commitments to expand our presence in the state of Gujarat. Sanand is becoming home for all our electric vehicles’ technology,” he said, while adding that the expansion in Sanand has been undertaken to meet the growing demand for EVs. The manufacturing plant in Sanand has been allocated to Agratas, which a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons.
In addition, the group is also building the C295 defence aircraft in Vadodara initially and will later start manufacturing it at Dholera. He elaborated on the expansion plan of the group in Gujarat in the areas of EV vehicles, battery production, C295 defence aircrafts and semiconductor fab, advance manufacturing skill building.
“Gujarat is one of the most important destinations for Tata Group and we will play a key role in its development journey,” he said.
