Tata deploys its TSAT-1A satellite in space on SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket
SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket has successfully carried the Tata TSAT-1A satellite in space for a successful deployment, marking Tata’s significant achievement in space technology.
The Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) in partnership with Satellogic Inc. has successfully deployed its sub-metre optical satellite in space. Notably, Elon Musk-run SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket launched the TSAT-1A satellite from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA. The deployment of TSAT-1A was done aboard the Bandwagon-1 mission via SpaceX.
Assembled at TASL’s Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT) plant located in Vemagal, Karnataka, TSAT – 1A satellite is an outcome of a collaboration between TASL and Satellogic that began in November 2023. The partnership brings together Satellogic's expertise in developing advanced Earth Observation satellites with TASL’s proficiency in complex system integration.
Sukaran Singh, CEO and Managing Director of TASL said, "This milestone shows TASL’s commitment to the space sector. Our partnership with Satellogic has enabled us to deliver an assembled and tested in India, best-in-class, sub-metre optical satellite which was launched by SpaceX."
The new satellite will deliver high-resolution optical satellite images, boasting increased collection capacity, dynamic range, and low-latency delivery through its multispectral and hyperspectral capabilities.
Emiliano Kargieman, CEO at Satellogic, congratulated both teams on their efficient collaboration, highlighting the flexibility of Satellogic’s Space Systems program. "This illustrates the flexibility of Satellogic’s Space Systems program, offering governments and enterprises the ability to tailor a proven satellite model for their specific needs, and reach orbit within a favourable time frame" Kargieman said.
