Sourav Das to head Rupa & Company as the Group Chief of Digital & IT

After a successful stint at Aditya Birla Group Essel Mining & Industries as a Chief Digital & Information Officer, Sourav Das has joined Kolkata head-quartered fashion & retail brand Rupa & Co. as Group Chief of Digital & IT.

Digital Transformation leader, Sourav Das has a remarkable career so far of two & half decades in various domains including Manufacturing, FMCG, Auto & Telecom. Sourav has been spearheading the Digital Transformation at Aditya Birla Group's Mining Business EMIL, and known for being a passionate early-adopter in leveraging technologies like Cloud, Robotics, IoT, Analytics & AI/ML. 

Rupa & Co. has been Fashioning India since 1968, and voted as the most promising brand in 2018 with its Chairman the visionary PR Agarwal conferred the Padmashree in 2022, having brand presence like Macroman, Euro, Colours, Frontline, Jon, Bumchum, Softline, as well as marketing and manufacturing Global Brands like Fruit of the Loom (FOTL) and FCUK from French Connection.

The Fashion & Apparel Industry in India is on the cusp of a disruption and Digital Transformation is slated to be one of the key ingredients. With the factories becoming smarter and the Supply Chains becoming Intelligent and Integrated, Omni channels are driving Customer Satisfaction. With Brand Positioning and Distribution Networks being key differentiators, Artificial Intelligence hence has a big role in driving bottom-line. Sourav will be instrumental in advising the Group as it treads the Transition Path to 2.0.

Sourav was associated with the Aditya Birla Group for over eight years in various leadership roles. Prior to this he served AGC Networks as Associate Vice President - Enterprise Applications and Essar as Associate Vice President, Enterprise Business Solutions. Apart from these, he was also associated with companies like ITC Infotech, Atos, PWC, IBM, Linde India, Haldia Petrochemicals and Reliance Industries.   

He holds a B.Tech degree in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He also did his PGDM in Systems, Marketing, Finance from Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow.
