SonicWall evolves as a company offering a full suite of integrated security solutions

Security is no longer a point solution, with threats growing every day. Additionally, today’s threats are continuously evolving in this age of connected devices. It is no longer a single medium like a device or a laptop or a server that is prone to cyber-attacks. Debasish Mukherjee, Country Director – India & SAARC, SonicWall throws more light on this during a chat with VARINDIA -
What is new at SonicWall presently?
The last two years have seen SonicWall introducing 54 new products and 1.6 million new lines of code; that is the speed of innovation we are keeping pace with. We have recently launched our newwireless cloud controller and the patent pending Real-time Deep Memory Inspection (RTDMI),which has been operational for months and has discovered over 74,000 malware strands not detected by sandboxing technology in the first half of 2019 alone.
SonicWall’s Capture Labsscan and captures data through its 1 million+ sensors, which is unique in the industry. Twenty-eight years since our inception, we have been gathering crucial global data through this network to accurately predict the outcome to any possible threats.
Which are the key business verticals that SonicWall would like to target?
Enterprise Security should be a priority for all businesses. One cannot differentiate between SMBsandlarge-scale enterprises when it comes to securing critical business data. While we have expertise to fit the needs of customers in the government, healthcare, Banking Financial Services & Insurance (BFSI), retail, education and of course all corporate sectors, our solutions are industry and size agnostic. In fact, SonicWall recently announced a plan to foray into the B2C segment as well. Security solutionsaredeveloped keeping in mind the versatility of our end-users.The security features developed by SonicWall for SMBsand large enterprises broadly remain the same. The differencelies in the aspect of scalability and physical features that vary according to the end user needs.
Implementing security solutions for SMBs is a challenge as they don't have the requisite knowledge, expertise or IT budget to fully defend their organization or to recover post-breach. This is one of the reasons for our Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) program. It is especially designed for the SMB customer, wherein the said party does not have to know everything about the technology, but only sign a Service Level Agreement (SLA) and our MSSP service providerpartner will help them set up cyber-security solutions while also taking care of compliance.
We have recently announced Zero Touch, SD-WAN and theCapture Security Center. So, if any customer has a distributed architecture, we are ableto solve their business pain in terms of how easily they can deploy our solutions. For instance, our firewalls support Zero Touch deployment, eliminating the need of a person to configure the firewall. Instead, they can be configured automatically and seamlessly through our Capture Security Center. With the help of Capture Security Centeryou can manage and monitoryour SonicWall products from a single pane of glass. And all our solutions are SD-WAN ready, helping our customers solve the challenge of bandwidth cost. So, while organizations of all shapes and sizes can benefit from these features, they are especially valuable to our customersin distributed architecture environments such as retail, education, manufacturing and healthcare.
What are some of the latest trends in security and how is SonicWall addressing them?
Security is no longer a point solution, and threats are growing every day. Additionally, today’s threats are continuously evolving in this age of connected devices. It is no longer a single medium like a device or a laptop or a serverthat is prone to cyber-attacks. Any IOT-connected device or for that matter, any email can be the target of cyber-threats.
Having understood this, SonicWall has evolved as a company to offer a full suite of integrated security solutions. We have created a layer of security within the next generation firewall (NGFW) that leverages our patented Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection engine. Thistechnology allows us to inspect each and every packet of data, on every file or file artefact, including encrypted traffic. As an increasing number of attacks have started happening onnon-standard ports, we are able to protect against that as well.
We have created another layer, called Capture Advanced Threat Protection (ATP), which has a multi engine sandbox, unlike any other vendor is providing.
We also have a next generation antivirus called Capture Client, an endpoint security technology based on machine learning and artificial intelligence.Allthese solutions integrate and talk to each other.
For remote employees, we have remote mobility solutions for the specific needs of end-users, such as Capture Client coupled with Capture ATP and Secure Mobile Access. We have a complete line of email security products to protect against both inbound and outbound email-borne threats as well as compliance and data leakage protection.
