Smart Guard strives to be A Leading IP Surveillance Provider in India

Smart Guard Systems, the IP surveillance provider and a 100% subsidiary of eInfochips Ltd., is a leading technology, design and solutions company. Smart Guard Systems is equipped with in-house capability to design, fabricate and assemble its IP Surveillance systems and its own software for video and security management. With a comprehensive portfolio of products (entry- level cameras to high-end cameras) and Video Management solutions, Smart Guard System offers complete start-to-finish security and surveillance systems, catering to IT/ITeS, industrial sectors such as power, oil & gas, atomic energy and heavy engineering, Banking & Financial Services, Insurance, Retail, Defence, Homeland Security and Infrastructure – Ports and SEZs. Smart Guard Systems leverages strong technical partnership with Texas Instruments, Maxim, Object Video, OpenXdevices and LuxRiot (for digital video recording and remote surveillance software package) to offer cutting-edge, innovative and global quality IP Surveillance solutions in India. It is the first Indian company to develop and bring to market the top-end and technologically advanced high-definition and mega-pixel cameras.
Smart Guard Systems is setting up a pan-India distribution network. The company is a member of NASSCOM, CII, Fire & Safety Association of India and Gujarat Electronics & Software Industries Association (GESIA).

The vision of the company is to become a leading global player in the Network Surveillance domain, driving innovation and developing state-of-the-art solutions for a safer future. The company wishes to drive the technology shift from analog to digital network-based security solutions with stronger supply chain and distribution network and to strengthen and develop the company’s position as a market leader in the Indian security and surveillance market.

The product portfolio of Smart Guard Systems is quite rich with a variety of products. To illustrate, under IP Surveillance it has a wide range of Network Cameras, Encoders adding IP benefits to existing CCTV systems, Video and Security Management Software, Recording Solutions, Video Analytics – Predictive Video Analytics, Face Recognition, Image Fusion, etc. Similarly, under access control, it has multifactor access control with fingerprint, smart card reader and 3-MP cameras, licence plate recognition system, intelligent vehicle management system, etc. It also has under vehicle screen system.

Can you give us a brief background of your organization?
Smart Guard Systems is a fully-owned subsidiary of e-Infochips.
The company has been doing R&D for the past one year. We have cutting-edge technology and are the first Indian company to produce IP Surveillance products in the country. We are the first Indian IP surveillance company and will be showcasing our full capabilities on IFSEC. We have already set up engineering and design centres in Ahmedabad. We are the first Indian company to design and produce mega-pixel cameras, HD cameras with H.264 technology.

What is the kind of demand pattern you see in the segment?
Globally, the surveillance industry is $6 billion, of which the IP Surveillance forms $1.2 billion. The Indian surveillance industry is worth Rs.600 crore, of which the IP surveillance industry forms Rs.80 crore. The growth of the segment is going to be phenomenal in the coming years.

However, it also depends on the enabling factors such as the PC penetration in the country, which has been increasing steadily mainly due to youngsters who are increasingly dependent on the computer and Internet.

The double income of urban couples is also increasing leading them to stay away from their homes for long hours at a stretch, which makes security increasingly necessary.

The gap between the haves and have-nots is also going to increase in the coming times, resulting in social problems. Hence, providing security is an important aspect. Investment by government in roads, airports and retail infrastructure is also on the rise.

What is your strategy for the market?
Our strategy for the market is to try and not to cut into each other’s share. As the market is slowly going to convert to digital from analog, we will have to come together and drive this migration rather than cutting into each other’s share.

What is the kind of products that you will be offering in the Indian market?
SGS came together one year back. We will be the first Indian company to provide bundled solutions. We will also be the first company to design and manufacture mega-pixel cameras in India.

For instance, our cameras provide video intelligence through factors such as object tracking, movement and displacement.

We will also provide complete solutions from start to end. However, we will not provide any storage solutions. For low-, medium- and high-end products; all the price points will be available. Low-end will be for homes and medium-priced products will be targeted at the government and commercial segments. The high-end range products will use the Edge Analystics software, wherein the surveillance camera transmits only highly important images as per its set-up.

What is your company’s USP?
We are the only Indian company to design and manufacture IP Surveillance products which are innovative and harness the cutting-edge technology. We are the first Indian company to design and manufacture mega-pixel cameras and HD cameras with H.264 technology. Innovation, technology, partner-centric approach, etc. are our USPs and philosophy on which we will build our organization.
