Simmtronics all set to expedite Notebooks manufacturing in India

Indrajit Sabharwal
Managing Director,
Simmtronics Semiconductors Ltd

Simmtronics Semiconductor Ltd is known for its manufacturing strength in India and it has very well proved its mettle by developing and supporting Memory Modules, Motherboards, Tablet PCs, Simbooks, low-cost PCs and other computer-related parts.  Besides these distinguished products, Simmtronics has achieved a milestone by launching Calling Tablet for the tech-savvy users in India.

Throwing some more light on the company’s core competencies, their expansion plans and marketing strategy for India, Indrajit Sabharwal, Managing Director, Simmtronics Semiconductors has had an exclusive interaction with VARINDIA where he exerts his valuable thoughts.

Which all market verticals does your product range cater to and what is the USP of Simmtronics’ products which helps the company to excel the competition in India?

We cater to entertainment, official, educational and many other verticals through the various contents in our tablets. The USP is manufacturing in India and due to this we have a very cost- effective model and thus are able to offer value for money to customers. Our vision is to become a pioneer in the manufacturing of building blocks of Personal Computers and Notebooks.

Collaborations/ tie-ups play an important role in business expansion. Do you have any significant collaboration with some other companies or are you planning to involve into any major tie-up?

We already have major tie-ups with many software companies like EDUCREN, Stick Cricket, OZONE Through ozone. We give free Wi-Fi to our customers at various outlets like McDonalds, Cafe Coffee Day, Subway, Cocoberry, etc.

What is your go-to-market strategy for India?

We follow both ATL and BTL approach with continuous new models launches. We also participate in GITEX in DUBAI to cater to the world market. Our products are very cost-effective rather than being available at exorbitant rates. Apart from that, we are the sole manufacturer, which also helps us in becoming the pioneer one day in this industry as our products are manufactured for the masses. We look forward to seeing the devices in the shopping malls or local bazaars in the near future. But, at the same time, it is also the only company to begin manufacturing and selling mobile devices in India.

What are your investment plans in India?

We plan to invest another Rs.200 crore in manufacturing as we already have five units, out of which three are in India. We have recently clinched a gigantic deal worth $10 million from the Middle-East countries to manufacture high-end tablets. We have also introduced newer products in India. Our company is not only situated in India but we also manufacture products for everyone. Yet, when it comes to investment, it is huge in India. We plan to set up some more manufacturing units as well.

Where do you see Simmtronics in India five years down the line?

We will be India’s biggest exporter of Tablets and IT products, and as a brand XPAD will be the top brand competing with Apple and Samsung. Simmtronics has over 6,000 different memory modules for Desktops, Laptops/ Notebooks and Servers, which are 100% compatible with Acer, Compaq, HP, IBM, Intel, etc.

What are your expansion plans in India along with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka?

We are introducing smartphones in India soon and are going to expand our base in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. We will soon have a full-fledged team of distributors in both the countries along with full after-sales service support. Simmtronics has five manufacturing facilities – three in India, and one each in Dubai and Singapore and has sales offices in the UAE, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, India, the UK, the USA and Singapore. It manufactures various computer components for users.
