"NVIDIA recently reinvented computer graphics with the launch of the Turing GPU architecture, our most important innovation since the invention of the CUDA GPU more than a decade ago. Turing is the world’s first ray-tracing GPU. It features new RT cores to accelerate ray tracing and new Tensor Cores for AI inferencing, which together for the first time, make real-time ray tracing possible along with more powerful compute for simulation and enhanced rasterization. Turing completes the NVIDIA RTX platform, a new hybrid rendering graphics approach that combines rasterization, ray tracing, compute and AI to enable real-time ray tracing, the holy grail of computer graphics.
Deep learning is empowering businesses across the world, including India. Traditional industrial segments such as energy, transportation, telecommunications, healthcare, financial services, retail, information technology, government, and all their various subsectors will be transformed by the application of deep learning. With parallel processing and parallel programming being at the heart of this trend and India being at the cusp of this revolution, NVIDIA sees a lot of potential for deep learning in India.
Secondly, advances in GPU computing have enabled great leaps in compute performance. As Moore’s law continues to slow, GPU accelerated computing has helped technology advance to the age of exascale computing. Our GPUs have democratized supercomputing and artificial intelligence, making these tools available to every researcher, scientist and developer who wants to use them.
As an AI compute company, our goal has always been to provide computing tools that will enable the best scientific minds across research, academia, government, enterprises, developers and start-ups to apply AI in solving some of the greatest challenges of humanity. NVIDIA’s global achievement this year has definitely been the launch of Turing, the world’s first ray tracing GPU. Turing is a giant leap forward and the greatest advance for computing since we introduced CUDA over a decade ago.
Additionally, we also continued to partner with labs and researchers to apply deep learning to solve India’s grand challenges. We established a center of excellence in partnership with Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CEERI), in July this year. This will be India’s first industrial AI supercomputer, at CEERI’s Delhi Campus and will house a high-throughput AI computing infrastructure that can be leveraged by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research Laboratories (CSIR), in collaboration with public and private organizations and industries across the country, to conduct research and development. The CNCoE is currently powered by five NVIDIA DGX-1 AI supercomputers, providing a purpose-built deep learning development platform based on NVIDIA Tesla V100 GPU accelerators. This is an opportunity to develop AI applications with the help of CEERI’s expertise."
