Schneider Electric pledges to support India’s Smart metering Initiative with Mysuru facility
Schneider Electric aims to support India’s Smart Meter National programme (SMNP) through its manufacturing facility in Mysuru, Karnataka. The facility offers functions such as R&D, testing, manufacturing, quality and procurement.
The facility offers an integrated digital manufacturing system that can ensure process compliance, quality checks, traceability, supply, and installation. It provides a sophisticated metering infrastructure comprising HES (Headend systems), MDM (Meter Data Management), etc with a strong layer of cyber security.
With the merger of Schneider Electric and erstwhile L&T EAIC, the facility benefits from the former’s global and technology expertise in the smart metering domain.
The plant has supplied more than 70 million electricity meters and more than 300,000 Smart Prepaid meters over the past 10 years for various projects in India.
Schneider Electric’s plant in Mysuru has an end-to-end ecosystem in place, which can be scaled up to meet the expected surge in demand for smart prepaid meters. The company already has an order of 1.4 million smart meters.
“Our projects in Indore, Mumbai, Bihar and Himachal Pradesh are benchmark projects which have proven both the technology and the financial viability of Smart meter deployment. We are well equipped to customize our solutions to meet the requirement of Indian utilities,” said Mr. Anil Chaudhry, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Schneider Electric India Pvt. Ltd, Great India Zone.
