The chamber stated that Sanjiv Puri, the Chairman and Managing Director of ITC, has been named president of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the years 2024–2025. In this esteemed position, Puri takes over from R Dinesh, the Chairman of TVS Supply Chain Solutions. As President-Designate for the 2024–2025 term, Rajiv Memani will be joining Puri in the CII leadership group.
Puri, renowned for his leadership at ITC Ltd, a diversified conglomerate with interests spanning FMCG, hotels, paperboards & packaging, agribusiness, and IT, brings extensive industry experience to his new position. Additionally, he serves as the Chairman of ITC Infotech India Ltd, overseeing its subsidiaries in the UK and US, as well as Surya Nepal Private Ltd.
Joining Puri in the CII leadership lineup is Rajiv Memani, who assumes the role of President-Designate for the 2024-25 term. Memani, holding the position of Chairman for EY (Ernst & Young) in the India region, is a prominent figure in the global professional services sector. His appointment underscores CII's commitment to leveraging expertise from diverse sectors, given Memani's pivotal role as Chair of EY’s Global Emerging Markets Committee.
Further strengthening the CII leadership team is R Mukundan, the Managing Director and CEO of Tata Chemicals Limited, who takes on the role of Vice President for 2024-25. Described by CII as a distinguished alumnus of IIT Roorkee and a Fellow of the Indian Chemical Society, Mukundan's illustrious 33-year career with the Tata Group has seen him navigate various leadership roles across the chemical, automotive, and hospitality sectors.
