R&M’s Peter Reichle says invest in ‘Make In India’ due to huge domestic demands
Reichle & De-Massari (R&M), a Swiss cabling company is betting high on India, and said that the company is planning to expand its workforce base in India since the country is strategically positioned, and it sees a huge optic fibre demand locally in the next two to three years. In conversation with a web portal, R&M co-owner and Member of the Board of Directors Peter Reichle spoke on the ‘Make in India’, BharatNet, FTTH and 5G.
“We started to assemble fiber optic products with 20 people and are now more than 200 employees with a new factory set up in Bangalore. Now this factory is delivering products globally to Europe and to the Asian market. I can confidently say that today this factory in Bangalore is the most important factory for R&M globally”, said Reichle.
“Basically, we do the fiber assembly. We are still getting the connectors from our headquarters and we do the fiber assembly of the connectors and make the patch cords. This has to be customized as per the required length for the customer.
When you ask about the assembly, it is not only assembly of fiber on the FFTH side; R&M India is now developing designing and making products from the moulds for global customers also in India. So we should say that the complete design and development of the product is done in India”, he concluded.
