Raman Roy appointed Nasscom chairman
National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) today announced the appointment of Raman Roy, chairman and managing director of Quatrro as its chairman of NASSCOM for 2017-2018.
Raman Roy has been a member of Nasscom’s executive council and was the vice-chairman for 2016-17. He takes over the mantle from CP Gurnani, managing director and chief executive officer, Tech Mahindra. Nasscom has also announced the appointment of Rishad Premji, chief strategy officer & member of the board, Wipro as the vice chairman of Nasscom for 2017-18.
Speaking on the occasion, Raman Roy said, “Nasscom is playing a critical role in evangelizing the digital opportunity for the sector and I would like to support the industry in facilitating the skilling and reskilling effort of the industry through disruptive models. Building India’s innovation edge is another key priority and we will plan to scale our start-ups and centre of excellence initiatives to the next level. I look forward to the continued involvement from our members to accelerate momentum on all initiatives.”
Speaking on the appointment of the new chairman, R Chandrashekhar, president, NASSCOM said, “Raman is an industry veteran and has been the catalyst of its exponential growth in the last few decades. We are sure to gain huge insights from his wealth of experience on global and domestic markets. Welcoming the vice chairman, he added, “A new age leader like Rishad, with his vast exposure, will bring fresh ideas to the table, helping the industry tap new domains and opportunities globally.
CP Gurnani, past chairman, NASSCOM said, “Last year has been an eventful journey for the industry, and I am proud to see it standing tall in the face of global headwinds. For me, it was a great experience, to get this opportunity, and help chart the course for the industry in the new world order. I wish Raman and Rishad the very best in their task ahead and am sure they will be true torch bearers for the sector.”
