“Bhubaneswar is the #1 smart city and we have designed many programmes to make it liveable and smart. The first and foremost is to make it Open Defecation Free (ODF). For this project, we have built many toilets (both individual and community) which is required to keep this city clean. Also, when the voting for Smart city was going on, many citizens had given preference for public transportation. BMC (Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation) and the Govt. of Odisha have together purchased 400 buses that will ply in different parts of the city. We have also planned for separate lanes and by-lanes for senior citizens. We also face the challenge of energy crisis in the city. 10% of the energy should be clean, as it is one of the components of the smart city.”
