PM Narendra Modi biopic to re-release on October 15
It seems all set for the picture halls in India to open on this coming 15th October as planned . It will welcome with the biopic, where Vivek Oberoi-starrer as 'PM Narendra Modi'. It will become the first film to hit the theatres once the COVID-19-induced restrictions on cinema halls and multiplexes are lifted. The film, which first released on May 24, 2019, was directed by Omung Kumar.
The director said he's glad that the film will be released again, adding, "We want each and everyone to see our labour of love."
Film critic and movie trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the news of its re-release on social media today. Taking to Twitter, he shared a poster of the film PM Narendra Modi featuring Oberoi, bearing an uncanny resemblance to PM Modi.
The movie traces PM Modi's journey from poverty, and selling tea on a railway station to becoming the leader of the world’s largest democracy. The movie also stars Boman Irani, Manoj Joshi, Prashant Narayanan, Barkha Bisht, Rajendra Gupta and Zarina Wahab.
The movie had its share of controversies when it was initially scheduled to release in April 2019 ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The Election Commission of India had then banned it citing that biopics with political content threaten level playing field.
