Over 2 lakh accounts in India are banned by X due to policy infractions
Elon Musk's X (formerly Twitter) suspended 2,12,627 accounts in India between February 26 and March 25 for encouraging terrorism and child trafficking. 5,158 user complaints were received by the platform, and 86 of them were resolved in March.
In its monthly report in compliance with the new IT Rules, 2021, X said that it received 5,158 complaints from users in India through its grievance redressal mechanisms. Also, the platform processed 86 grievances which were appealing account suspensions.

Ban evasion (3,074), sensitive content (953), hateful conduct (412), and abuse (359) constituted the majority of complaints.
In India, X banned 5,06,173 accounts between January 26 and February 25. It took down 1,982 accounts for promoting terrorism on its platform in the country.
