Online Shopping gets a push with Diwali deals in India, reports eBay
To highlight online shopping trends of India during the festive season, eBay India has released the eBay India Diwali Shopping Trends based on an analysis of all transactions on eBay India in early October 2013.
Accroding to the survey, it has been revealed that online shopping has taken peak this festive season with Indian consumers across the length and breadth of the country going online for the best deals and widest variety of products. Bengaluru tops the rankings with the most purchases in the festive season, followed by Delhi and then Mumbai. Categories such as home and living products, mobile phone and tablets are the best performing this festive season. However, there has also been an increase in the purchase of home decor, fitness and sport products, home theatre systems and car and bike accessories.
Alok Agarwal, Director Marketing, eBay India, said, We have received a phenomenal response for our festive offers. There is strong uptake in popular product categories such as mobile, laptops, tablets, cameras, TVs, home appliances, home décor, fashion, gold coins, perfumes, kitchenware, and toys, amongst others. Some of the key reasons for the same can be attributed to convenience of shopping from their houses, anytime they want. It also helps them avoid crowded market areas or stories, overcome parking challenges and save fuel.
Interesting online shopping trends are seen in various parts of the country during this festive period with consumers buying gadgets and lifestyle products for both their own use and for gifting.
