India’s largest crude oil and natural gas company, ONGC is one of the Maharatnas of Government of India. It contributes almost 71% to Indian domestic production. ONGC has a unique distinction of being a company with in-house service capabilities.
ONGC will be implementing the country’s maiden geothermal field development project in Ladakh that will use the heat generated by the Earth's core to generate clean energy. Geothermal energy is clean, renewable, sustainable, carbon-free, continuous, uninterrupted and environment-friendly. ONGC has planned this field development in Ladakh in three phases.
The company has also tested the first deep-water well at its largest block in the Krishna Godavari basin. The KG-DWN-98/2 block in the Bay of Bengal is one of ONGC’s biggest projects. It has plans to invest up to $5 billion during the life of the asset that is expected to play a strategic role in India’s energy transition.
