Not-So-Known Facts About The Cricket Legend Chris Gayle

Not-So-Known Facts About The Cricket Legend Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle, one of the finest power hitters in cricket history, has always kept fans interested in his destructive hitting. On his day, the lanky Caribbean batter has wildly hammered the world's greatest bowlers and ripped the game away from them. Gayle simply plays one way, hitting the bowlers from the opening ball. He is so strong that he can strike every ball without moving and send it flying out of the stadium. It's been 22 years since he last played international cricket, but his talent hasn't waned. This likely makes him one of the most important players in any franchise league on the planet.

Sports bettors also consider Gayle legendary. Players like him often bring in a lot of bettors on apps like 10CRIC, especially on big games. This applies to any sport though, not just cricket. Going back, here are some facts about Chris Gayle, aka Universe Boss.

Humble beginnings

Given his current extravagant lifestyle, it's not difficult to envision Gayle growing up in less opulent circumstances. Gayle was the fifth of six children; his father was a cop, and his mother sold snacks in their area. The Gayle family was not impoverished, but they were not wealthy either. Gayle was born to play cricket. Chris' granddad had played club cricket and had passed on his enthusiasm to him. It was in his family: his grandfather had played cricket, so he was surrounded by it all.

Growing up, things weren't always simple for Gayle, who reportedly struggled in school. Chris, on the other hand, developed a passion for the game of cricket, which was fueled by his grandpa, a local cricket icon. Gayle's love for cricket intensified, and he finally joined the Lucas Cricket Club's nursery in Jamaica. Chris Gayle credits his grasp of cricket to his time at Lucas and says that he might have ended up on the streets if it hadn't been for Lucas Cricket Club.

He represents an online betting site

Since March 20, 2021, "The Boss'' has served as the brand ambassador for 10CRIC, an online betting platform in India. Having Chris Gayle as the company's official brand ambassador is a fantastic coup for a relatively unknown betting site in India at the time. Gayle has a large fan base in India, where he has played for multiple clubs, notably Kings XI Punjab and Kolkata Knight Riders, in the Indian Premier League.

Chris Gayle was named the IPL's Most Valuable Player in 2011. Chris is widely recognized as one of the greatest hitters of all time in India, which is why his position as a brand ambassador for 10CRIC has undoubtedly contributed significantly to the betting company's growth in the Indian market.

Gayle once flirted on live TV

Gayle was interviewed by female Australian presenter Mel McLaughlin in January 2016 while playing Big Bash cricket for the Melbourne Renegades after a stellar performance against the Hobart Hurricanes.

During the interview, Gayle stated that he batted so well that he could have an interview with McLaughlin, which was followed by praises of her eyes and appearance, and he later asked the host out for dinner after the game.

Needless to say, Gayle's comments did not go over well in Australia, where he was chastised by huge sections of the media as well as the Australian cricket establishment. Former Australian captain Ian Chappell even urged Cricket Australia to bar Gayle from ever playing in Australia again.

However, Gayle was required by his club to make a statement and apologize for the event and was then fined $10,000 for unacceptable behavior.
