NIE Mysore inaugurates Centre of Excellence in association with SIEMENS
The National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysuru, has inaugurated the NIE-Siemens Technical Centre in collaboration with German major Siemens at their campus. N.R. Narayana Murthy, Director, NIE Management Committee, has inaugurated its Centre of Excellence while Srinath Batni, President, NIE Management Committee, has presided over the event.
The centre of excellence aims to train students and working professionals with the latest and futuristic industry-relevant skills. The initiative will improve employability and assist in better placements for students.
N.R. Narayana Murthy, Director, NIE Management Committee, and Infosys co-founder, says, “Automation is the future for engineers, not just Mechanical but all other streams. The colleges in the country must prepare our students for the future. The students must be able to challenge their teachers and the teachers must be able to rise and meet these challenges. So, its crucial that, students should carry out projects in companies like SIEMENS to understand the practical aspects of any software.”
Rahul Sehgal, Director-Business Development, Siemens Industry Software (India) Pvt Ltd, says, “companies like Siemens are putting in efforts to aid colleges like NIE to connect with the Industry and the world market to achieve its goals”.

“Siemens Technical Centre” is an interdisciplinary, industry-backed centre focused on developing excellence in skills for the Automotive, Aerospace & Defence, Industrial Machinery, Marine and Factory Automation Industry Sector. Through training and implementation of Industry–relevant technologies and processes, the centre aims to facilitate a multi-disciplinary learning environment across Science, Technology, Engineering and Management faculties. It is designed to meet the demands of the industries’ ever-changing processes and help build skills around collaborations and innovations. The centre will leverage Siemens’ integrated platform to draw upon expertise from various industries and provide its partners with knowledge and tools.
The centre will soon start training students and professionals from numerous colleges and industries in the area of Automation Technology.
