Netmagic plans to invest Rs.1,200 crore to expand its green data centre capacity in 2018

According to Cisco’s latest Global Cloud Index, Cloud traffic will represent 95% of total data center traffic by 2021 as cloud service adoption creates new data center demands. Driven by surging cloud applications, data center traffic is growing fast. The study forecasts global cloud data center traffic to reach 19.5 zettabytes (ZB) per year by 2021, up from 6 ZB per year in 2016 (3.3-fold growth or a 27% compound annual growth rate [CAGR] from 2016 to 2021). Globally, cloud data center traffic will represent 95% of total data center traffic by 2021, compared to 88% in 2016.
Netmagic (An NTT Communications company) which runs seven data centers with a total gross capacity of 6 lakh sq.ft. will be investing Rs.1,200 crore to double its capacity with new launches in Bengaluru and Mumbai in April, 2018. With the 2 lakh sq ft data center in Whitefield, Bengaluru and 3 lakh sq.ft. in Chandivali, Mumbai, the company will be taking its total storage to 11 lakh sq ft. Ensuring maximum energy efficiency and a minimum impact on the environment, all Netmagic data centers are green data centers.
The current data center market in India is valued at $2.2 billion, and is expected to touch US$4.5-billion mark by 2018, according to a report published by Gartner.
