MyGov CEO Akash Tripathi to head India Semiconductor Mission
MyGov chief executive officer Akash Tripathi will take over as the chief of the India Semiconductor Mission which spearheads the country’s $10-billion chip subsidy scheme. Tripathi is set to take over the post from Amitesh Sinha. Sinha’s responsibilities are being divided among different top officials of the ministry as an interim measure as his period of deputation is ending.
In the coming months, another joint secretary-level officer could be brought in to carry out these duties.
Amitesh Sinha is an Indian Railway Accounts Service Officer, who was also in charge of the production-linked incentive scheme for technology hardware and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s nodal officer for social media content takedowns under Section 69 of the IT Act.
While joint secretary Sushil Pal is set to take charge of the Rs 17,000-crore PLI scheme for IT hardware, another joint secretary in the ministry, Sanket Bhondve, will oversee the Section 69 content blocking orders. Bhondve was recently appointed as an officer on special duty (OSD) to set up the data protection board under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act.
