MOBOTIX AG is an innovator in Surveillance segment
Srikanth Kamath
Country Manager,
MOBOTIX AG
MOBOTIX AG invests heavily in R&D to deliver the richest and most innovative products and solutions to satisfy customers’ surveillance needs.
The Indian market is yet to understand the mega pixel technology fully and even the concept of lower frame rate and higher data usage in mega pixel. For example, recording in CIF (0.1 mega pixel) and QXGA (3 mega pixel) for 90 days will result in the waste of Storage and lead to higher cost. Higher Security would mean higher cost, but the Indian market is looking for “Better Technology” at the Analog Cost, which is a major challenge. It needs to be addressed by OEMs through education and training.
MOBOTIX in Surveillance space
MOBOTIX AG is an innovator in the Surveillance segment. Hence, since its inception, the company has always been the first to introduce new technologies and solutions which are the requirements of the surveillance industries.
– The “decentralized”, i.e. no VMS or NVR concept, ensures the equipments required in the Control Room are Zero, whereas all of competition is heavily dependent on server and VMS technologies to deliver the solution to the customer.
– The philosophy “No Charge for Software & Analytical” ensures that our customer from 1999 gets the latest upgrades free of cost. All the rest are charged even maintenance and upgrades.
– The MxActivity Sensor Analytical introduced in 2013 is a free upgrade for our customers who brought the cameras in 2002. The Video Analytical is licensed by our competition and they require server class machines to do the Analyticals.
MOBOTIX: Opportunities and Challenges
Srikanth Kamath, Country Manager, MOBOTIX AG, says, “The German brands are now well accepted in the Indian market and the Tier II and Tier II cities have more BMWs and Audia. Hence, it is clear to us that discerning customers exist in 120 Tier- II and -III cites of India. We are expanding our Channel into these cities with “Wakeup Seminars” and “Training”.
Srikanth Kamath adds, “IBM had to exit out of the server market due to the falling prices and inability to differentiate their offering. We hope this should not happen to Surveillance. It is quite clear the Surveillance market is moving towards Commodity and the e-commerce sites are selling the product without support to the Customer, is a danger.” In Security, false assurance with incorrectly installed system is more dangerous than no installation.
Future Ahead
London has over 6 lakh cameras and Delhi has 4,000 cameras. Hence, the potential in the market is huge in all the verticals, industries and public places. Presently, Indians are treating security products as luxury goods. What is required is that the government should provide good incentives to private / individuals to install state-of-the-art system, at tax rates applicable to the IT industry.
