Mobile Shoppers Top Categories among Indian Shoppers: eBay India

On the basis of eBay India’s Festive Mobile Commerce survey with over 1,000 eBay India users in October 2013, it has been revealed that 93% of all Mobile Commerce survey respondents were male. 34% of consumers were in the age group of 18–25 years and 32% of consumers were in the age group of 26–30 years. While 48% of Mobile Shoppers were from the metros, 44% were from non-metro cities and 10% respondents were from rural India.

Mobile commerce enables consumers to check prices on their mobile and making purchases after comparing prices. Mobile commerce offers consumers a store in their pocket. The other key highlights of the survey reveals that about 78% shoppers prefer shopping on mobiles to get great deals on purchases and about 60% shoppers said they shop on mobile to save fuel. Over 61% shoppers said shopping on mobile also saves them from parking woes and long queues.
Amongst the most popular product purchased, 68% of mobile shoppers seek to buy mobile phones, followed by home appliances at 43% and Tablets at 35%. Mobile Shoppers prefer to access shopping sites via Browsers (43%), whereas over 25% of shoppers use both Apps and Browsers equally on their mobile device.
In addition, it was found that these mobile shoppers have Android (79%) as their favourite operating system, followed by iOS (9%) & Windows (6%).
