Micromax launches Bharat 5 bundled with Vodafone’s 50 GB free data

Firming up its 4G product portfolio and expanding its Bharat series, Micromax Informatics has launched Bharat 5 smartphone. The new Bharat 5 packs a 5,000mAh battery, 5MP front and rear cameras, 5.2-inch HD IPS display, Android Nougat at a competitive price point. The new launch is set to accelerate the next phase of smartphone adoption in the country and helping consumers upgrade to quality entry-level smartphones.

The device comes with a 1.3 GHz Quad-core Processor with 1GB DDR3 RAM and a 16GB ROM.

Micromax has also partnered with Vodafone to provide its Bharat 5 consumers with 50 GB of free data. For any existing or new customer of Vodafone who buys a new Micromax Bharat 5 and a 1GB Data pack will get additional 10GB Data every month for a total of five months.

The announcement comes on the back of success of the Bharat series with Micromax aiming to sell more than 6 million Bharat series smartphones by March 2018. Bharat 5 will also succeed with Bharat 5 Plus and Bharat 5 Pro in the next two months, giving users multiple product options to choose from.

The company has recently launched a power-packed phone for the first-time internet users – Bharat 1 – a 4G feature phone that helps bridge the digital divide and provides users with unlimited calling and data offer from BSNL at an affordable cost of Rs.97 every month. Micromax has also partnered with Vodafone for the launch of India’s lowest-priced 4G smartphone with Bharat 2 Ultra for just Rs.999/-. The compelling Bharat range also has Bharat 3 and Bharat 4 smartphones which come with 4G VoLTE, 1.3 GHz Quad-core processor, Android Nougat and come with 22 regional languages support.

Commenting on the launch, Shubhodip Pal, Chief Marketing & Chief Commercial Officer, Micromax Informatics, said, “Data affordability, connectivity and ease-of-using technology are the three barriers for the users to get a connected experience. With Bharat series, Micromax is truly helping the Indian consumers be digitally connected and make their experience more affordable and accessible. Bharat 5, like its predecessors, will truly drive the next phase of smartphone adoption in the country, as a smartphone with 5,000mAh battery is pivotal for a market like India where the tier-3 and -4 cities still face severe power outage issues. Going ahead as well, we will be coming with compelling product propositions based on the needs of our consumers in the affordable smartphone segment.”

The phone will be available at a price of Rs.5,555 at retail stores across the country.
