Metallic: A complete data protection suite

Now customers and CIO are now looking at a way to protect their data, right all the way from edge to data center to cloud. They want solutions which can take care of their ransomware attacks. They need a single pane of glass to manage the data management solution. And that is where CommVault lies.
We are a 25 year old organization, so all the way from mainframe to container so that is our strength. A completely organic product in the sense that everything is ours. We never acquired anything, so it's not an amalgamation of multiple products, everything is home-grown. So be it protection, archival or the sensitive data governance, the entire thing is available with the platform. In addition to that, suppose you want to look at the target part, again, with the help of our either reference architecture or our own appliances that option is also available.
So with Metallic, it is actually a SaaS offering from Commvault. The entire data protection suite is now available to customers in the form of Metallic. This is a very workload conversation wherein you say what do you want to do is Office365 or endpoint or anything, you just say how many users or whatever parameter, the entire solution gets spins up in the cloud and starts consuming it.
In India, we started in 2004. Very early we found or rather India has a lot of talent pool, especially from an engineering standpoint. In 2019 we launched Center of Excellence, not only engineering but a whole lot of the backend work also now happens in India. We operate in about seven cities, and more than 850 people are now in India. So that is the strength that CommVault has.
This year it is very important because while Metallic is a two year old product, we launched it in India and it means it is completely India ready.
As said, the market and customers are changing, the way people go to market that also changes. So we understand while the needs of customers are different, the needs of partners are also different and that is why for us it is not one size fits all. There are about five different categories of partnership that we do. So depending on what business you are doing, we have solutions or programs according to that.
The whole idea of the program is about number one, simplicity that means for the partners it should be simple to understand, to migrate from tiers, to make money and should be profitable. In addition to that all the kinds of benefits that come from us when you do more business that adds to the overall profitability. Most importantly it is the predictability, everybody wants to understand what they are getting when they are getting into a partner program and that is where the entire transparency of the program comes into play. The program has just three tiers – Authorized, Premier and Market builder. From the second and third tier that are Premier and Market Builder, you start getting all the benefits that Commvault has to offer.
