MAIT spreads Green IT practices
The Manufacturers' Association for Information Technology (MAIT) has conducted a Seminar on Green IT Best Practices in association with HIDA (Human Resources and Industry Development Association) of Japan, GIPC (Green IT Promotion Council), METI (Ministry of Economy Trade & Industry) and PCRA in Delhi. MAIT has entered into a MoU with HIDA and GIPC to spread the best green IT practices in the country.
Dr. Ajay Mathur, Former Director General, Bureau of Energy Efficiency delivered the Inaugural Address and highlighted the relationship between IT, Energy and Government at the Seminar. He also shared the need to focus on Consumer IT Products, Data Centres & Servers and intermediate users of IT to save energy.
Hiroshi Okouchi, Deputy Director of Information and Communication Electronics Division, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan delivered the Keynote Address and Abhay Bakre, Executive Director, PCRA delivered the Special Address.
Dr. Alok Bharadwaj, President, MAIT called for fiscal incentives for efficient utilisation of IT to reduce energy shortage and emphasized on the need for education and awareness building among consumers for using energy-efficient products. He also appreciated HIDA & GIPC’s championing the cause of Green IT in the Asian economies.
Sabyasachi Patra Executive Director MAIT, said, “Managing the environmental impacts and benefits of IT is a strategic imperative for every organization in the 21st Century. We, at MAIT, are excited to be a part of this journey of driving the adoption of green IT practices for reducing our carbon footprint and ensuring a Green India.”
