"5G is the newest variant of mobile connectivity and is expected to be commercialized across the globe and open new avenues of applications. With the capability of reaching speeds approximately a thousand times faster than 4G, 5G technologies will bring about a substantial shift in user behaviour, and the applications of smart mobile devices, Precision agriculture, Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and Internet of Things among others.
The first-generation mobile network (1G) was all about voice. 2G was about voice and texting; 3G was about voice, texting, and data; 4G was everything in 3G but faster; and 5G will be even faster; it will be fast enough to download a full-length HD movie in seconds.
5G greatly improves what businesses can do with connected devices. This is because of the capabilities of 5G technology to support more simultaneous internet connections, require less energy from wireless radios, enable more IoT video applications, and mitigate problems associated with wireless latency.
For Augmented reality & Virtual reality, 5G looks set to be more transformational than most. Indeed, 5G could prove instrumental to AR & VR finally hitting the mainstream. Availability of 5G will help producers make faster and better decisions while improving machine performance for greater productivity, efficiencies and yields.”
