Logitech introduces Hindi Keyboard to bridge the digital divide

Logitech has initiated the Digi@भारत campaign, the first-of-its-kind campaign aimed at promoting inclusive growth as a part of the Government’s “Digital India” programme, by connecting and empowering millions and bridging the digital divide in India. With Digi@भारत, Logitech seeks to enhance Digital India initiative by supporting technology for telemedicine, tele justice, tele-education and promote content creation and consumption in regional languages. Dr Dinesh Sharma, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Electronics & Information Technology, Science & Technology and Secondary & Higher Education for the Government of Uttar Pradesh, and Shri Sanjiv Saran, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, IT and Electronics, flagged off the campaign from Lucknow.

Speaking on the occasion, Dinesh Sharma, Deputy Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh, expressed, “The objective of the ‘Digital India’ is to come out with innovative ideas and practical solutions to transform our nation and to create opportunities for all citizens by harnessing digital technologies. Our vision is to empower every citizen with access to digital services, knowledge and information. I congratulate Logitech on starting the Digi@भारत campaign from Uttar Pradesh and hope that this initiative will help in empowering the Indian citizens with access to digital services.”

Commenting on the new launch, Sumanta Datta, Managing Director, India and SWA, Logitech Asia-Pacific, said, “We are proud and honoured to initiate Digi@भारत campaign and taking ahead the Digital India mission, which will help bridge the digital divide in the country. At Logitech, we strongly believe that language should not be a barrier in the use and adoption of latest technology. Our objective is to promote local language as powerful medium for the consumers to interact and engage in their preferred choice of language. We are proud to launch the new Logitech MK235 Wireless Devanagari Keyboard Combo, as well as wired Devanagari keyboard K120 to cater to the unique needs of Indian consumers across multiple markets. We believe that by adding the ability to select languages in their keyboard, we will further help break down the wide language gap and allow millions of new adopters to join the Digital India movement.”

With the Devanagari keyboard, Logitech is looking to reach out to the 40-crore people in the Hindi-speaking belt through its vast network of retailers in this region and the products shall also be available online on amazon.in starting 15th April, 2018. The move is aimed at dissolving India’s major language barrier in technology and to further focus on working towards bridging the digital divide. The new launch will empower people to communicate in their preferred choice of language. Less than 10% of the Indian population considers English as one of their top three preferred languages. With the next billion digital adoption expected to happen with the help of native language, there is a need to come up with unique language solutions for the consumers. Therefore, the new launch will solve the challenge of growing consumption of local language content and the need for regional language support in the digital ecosystem.

Logitech K120 keyboard comes with at an affordable price of Rs.695/- with 3-year warranty, while the Logitech MK235 Wireless Hindi Keyboard Combo (with mouse) is available for a suggested retail price of Rs.1,995/- with a 1-year warranty.
