LINE crosses 300 Million User base globally

Since launching its free call and messaging app, LINE Corporation has announced that user numbers for the LINE app have exceeded 300 million worldwide. LINE has also gained universal acceptance as a communication app with its voice and video calls and sticker messaging features.
The company’s global efforts have rapidly accelerated the pace of growth in user numbers, with 19 months taken to achieve the first 100 million users, 6 months for the next 100 million, and only 4 months between 200 million and 300 million users.
In addition to East Asia, user numbers are also growing steadily in Hispanic regions such as Spain and Mexico. Currently, the company is focussing on the acquisition of new users in India, Turkey, and West European countries, including France, Germany and Italy by conducting localized promotional activities and strengthening partnerships with local mobile network operators and device manufacturers. In India, where the smartphone market is expanding rapidly, the offering of localized content and stickers featuring local celebrities has allowed LINE to achieve an impressive 10 million users only three months after officially entering the market. A total of 20 million users in the country are anticipated before the end of 2013.
LINE further aims to achieve 500 million users in 2014.
