LG soon to come up with IoT-based products
By VARINDIA - 2017-08-07
As per news source, by early next year LG has plans to add products based on Internet of Things (IoT) in its home appliances portfolio. To come up with IoT-based products, the company is in talks with many mobile network service operators.
Ki Wan Kim, Managing Director, LG Electronics India, said, “Possibly by the end of this year or early next year, LG’s first IoT-based products would be introduced in the country. He also added that LG is already selling such products in Korea but in India the wait is because of a partnership with a telecom service provider for data connectivity.”
The appliances that LG is planning to introduce will be equipped with features like LG HomeChat and SmartThinQ that enable consumers to control and operate home appliances through smartphones. These appliances are connected through the Internet.
Last year, LG had clocked sales of Rs.22,000 crore in India and is among leaders in various appliances segments here. The company has two manufacturing units – one in Greater Noida and the other in Pune.
