In a chat with VARINDIA, Vinod Pandit, Business Head, lephone Technology talks about the growth which the brand has achieved within a year and also upholds the focus and future plans of the company
Indian handset market
India as a market is very dynamic and demanding. The customers of this market always look for value proposition. Not only this, the major population of the country being the youth, the demand of the customers is always for latest and innovative technology. Keeping the customer demands in mind, lephone will offer products according to the needs of the customers at the best price.
“The Indian mobile phone industry is very dynamic and people expect a combination of value-for-money and latest technology. We will be working to follow this concept and provide end-users, the products of their needs with the best price in the market,” says Vinod Pandit, Business Head, lephone Technology.
Brand Positioning
Though a new entrant in the Indian handset market, but within a year of its existence in the market the company has witnessed rapid growth and also has been able to attain it. It entered into the market with feature phones but soon it has ventured into the smartphone market. The smartphones received good response and are well accepted by the customers when it comes to quality of the product and price point.
“lephone is a rapidly-growing brand in India and has achieved tremendous growth since the last year when they started its operation. Initially started with feature phones, it entered into the smartphone market as well and has been well accepted by the Indian market in terms of its quality and price,” states Vinod.
Achievements
With seven feature phones and nine smartphones launched within a short period of time, the brand has been able to create a pan-India network with good volume and business. lephone’s W7 smartphone has proved to the most reasonably price 4G handset with superior quality and unique user experience. The company has also come up with an array of feature enriched feature phones.
“Within a short span of time, we have achieved the whole pan-India coverage by doing good volume and business. Our model ‘lephone W7’ has already created storm in the market and has been proven to be the most affordable 4G handset with the best-in-class quality and user experience. In feature phones, we already launched selfie camera phone last year. In our product bouquet, we do have slim product, metallic phones, and phone with fingerprint. All our smartphones are 4G VoLTE-enabled and 360 on the top of Android,” explains Vinod.
Focus
To make the latest technology available to every segment and also price should not be the barrier for people to accept technology, so lephone believes in offering quality product at an affordable price.
“For us, at lephone we always believe in providing the latest technology at a very affordable price so that each and every corner of India should not be stand apart from the latest technology only because of price,” believes Vinod.
Future Plans
A rapidly-growing brand, lephone started its business in the last fiscal but in the current year it is expecting to achieve over Rs.700-crore revenue. It aims to improve customer’s everyday experience by improving features and for that it invests a good amount of money into the market research to remain updated about the market trends.
“In FY 2016-17, we initially start doing business in India but as of now if we talk about our revenue and growth we are expecting Rs.700-crore-plus by FY 2017-18.
We spend a lot of time doing the market research to know the trend of the market and what the user expectation from a device is. Improving everyday life experience such as battery life, user experience, Dual SIM with dedicated SD slot (if memory is less than 32 GB), design, material quality, etc are the main things consumers do expect from a device,” reveals Vinod.
