Kaspersky leveraging legacy and investing in tools to offer best products and services

Kaspersky leveraging legacy and investing in tools to offer best products and services

The digital age has ushered in unparalleled convenience and innovation, but it has also opened the door to a new frontier of threats and vulnerabilities. In this era of relentless connectivity, cybersecurity is not just a buzzword; it's a necessity. In a chat with VARINDIA, Jaydeep Singh, General Manager for South Asia at Kaspersky delves into the ever-evolving landscape of cyber resilience in India and the critical role that Kaspersky plays.

The Cybersecurity Landscape in India
India's digital transformation has created a cybersecurity battleground. As digitalization and adoption of technology surge, so does the intensity of cyberattacks. Jaydeep highlights that individuals and corporations alike are recognizing the urgent need for robust protection against these growing threats. Jaydeep points out, “You will find a lot of intensity of attacks growing in the country and at the same time, we see a lot of urgency from individuals as well as corporates to adopt the protection means against these threats and challenges.”

Collaboration with organizations for cyber security needs
Kaspersky's collaboration with Indian organizations and institutions takes on multiple forms. Firstly, Kaspersky offers world-class products that safeguard critical IT infrastructure components. Additionally, they provide services ranging from forward-looking threat intelligence feeds to digital forensics investigations and incident response services. Furthermore, Kaspersky strongly believes in the power of education and offers various training programs and tools to enhance cybersecurity awareness and skills. "We have the world-class products when it comes to protecting endpoints, servers, storage, the core IT processes of companies," comments Jaydeep.

Role of Government and Private Sector
The government's role is pivotal in fostering a resilient cybersecurity ecosystem. Praising the government's efforts Jaydeep says, "The government's job is to ensure that we have the correct policy and framework in place. Govt is developing data protection legislation that balances corporate interests with individual data protection. This legislation complements existing IT laws, ensuring that both enterprises and individuals have robust data protection. The effective implementation of these laws will be essential in the coming months.”

Employee Training and Awareness
Jaydeep Singh emphasizes on the critical role of employee training and awareness in building a strong cybersecurity system. The most advanced tools alone cannot guarantee cybersecurity; they must be used correctly. Kaspersky actively contributes to this aspect by providing interactive and gamified training tools to organizations. According to Jaydeep, "Awareness remains the single most important factor for companies beyond having the correct tools in place. We strongly believe in providing those tools to corporate. We have three specific areas where we provide the training services to platforms, enterprises as well as agencies.”

Adapting to Emerging Threats
With a rich history dating back to 1997, the company continually invests in its products and people. One major area of concern is the emerging threats to industrial institutions. To counter this, the company offers the Kaspersky Industrial Cyber Security Platform, which protects industrial assets. They also provide threat intelligence feeds specifically designed to counter threats affecting corporate infrastructure.

Jaydeep comments, "Kaspersky was founded in 1997, and we're leveraging both the legacy as well as investing heavily in tools to provide the best products and services to our customers. The Kaspersky Industrial Cyber Security Platform protects your industrial assets, both on network side and load side. That is an extremely important part of the product strategy for the industries.”

Aiding Small and Medium Enterprises
SMEs often lack the specialized manpower required for robust cybersecurity. Kaspersky encourages them to consider managed services and collaborate with Managed Security Services Providers (MSSPs) or Managed Services Providers (MSPs). Kaspersky is actively involved in supporting MSPs and MSSPs in India, making world-class cybersecurity solutions accessible to SMEs.

As per Jaydeep, "We encourage those small, medium enterprises to look at managed services and specifically trying to talk to aligning their services to a managed security services provider or a managed services provider. Kaspersky is doing a lot of investment in collaborating with the MSP and the MSC players in the country to help the small and medium enterprises."

Achieving the right balance
Jaydeep Singh underscores the significance of cross-functional collaboration within organizations. He advocates for regular information exchange between production teams and Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) to protect assets from both IT and industrial perspectives. Furthermore, representation of CISOs on corporate boards ensures that cybersecurity receives the attention and resources it deserves.

To Conclude
The cyber realm is ever-changing and fraught with challenges, but it's also a realm where guardians like Kaspersky are continuously innovating. In a world where digital threats loom large, the insights shared by Jaydeep Singh shed light on how organizations and individuals in India can stay ahead of the cybersecurity curve. Cyber resilience, as it turns out, is not just about the right tools; it is about awareness, collaboration, and constant adaptation.
