Karnataka Government to organize “MOVE” Summit for southern region

The Government of Karnataka is organizing a one-day regional workshop for the southern region today in Bengaluru. This is to discuss the state's plan and would seek suggestions for establishing an enabling ecosystem for transforming mobility in the country. The outcome of the workshop will play a major role in giving direction to state level mobility strategy.

The one-day workshop, supported by WEC India as knowledge partner, is being organized to gear up for the momentum on NITI Aayog’s India’s First Global Mobility Summit. “MOVE”, a global Mobility Summit, is scheduled for 7th & 8th September, 2018. NITI Aayog has constituted a core group of experts to provide intellectual inputs to the Summit and also constituted a State Level Task Force on Mobility to develop state-specific mobility strategies.

As part of the core group expert, Seethapathy Chander will be representing WEC India. He is also the nodal person of state-level task force for Southern states (Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Karnataka, Pondicherry and Lakshadweep).

The workshop will be attended by the Karnataka government Chief Secretaries, key industry leaders, regulators, and senior officials from across the domain. It also aims to encourage synergies between indigenous industries such as automobile manufacturing, information technology, electronics, telecommunications to integrate with global supply chains. It also envisages mobility as a key driver for generating employment, providing innovative solutions to improve efficiency and efficacy of transport sector and accelerate economic growth.
